Mondaire Jones made history Sunday as he was sworn into Congress.
He's the first Black and openly gay member of Congress, along with Rep. Ritchie Torres.
Jones now represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which encompasses the lower Hudson Valley. This includes all of Rockland County and parts of central and northern Westchester County.
He's replacing longtime Rep. Nita Lowey, who's retiring after 32 years in the seat.
Jones campaigned for Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, along with getting corporate money out of politics, ending gun violence and protecting a woman's right to choose. He's also been an advocate for court reform and voting rights.
As for the COVID-19 relief bill that just passed, he says he's an advocate for $2,000 stimulus checks and even monthly survival checks for struggling families during the pandemic.
Lowey endorsed Jones, and he won with 42% of the vote - three times more than his second-place opponent.
At 33 years old, Jones is also the youngest member of the House Democratic leadership team.
