A long-running legal dispute between the City of Mount Vernon and its school district has been resolved.

The city owed $11 million in school taxes for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years.

Last September, the city agreed to pay the district the total amount. Last month, they agreed to pay the district an additional $2.1 million in interest.

The city comptroller says they have already paid the district $7 million, and the rest will be paid out between now and September of next year.
