The Mount Vernon Police Department have issued a warning to Hyundai and Kia owners to safeguard against potential car thefts.

Due to the absence of an engine immobilizer in these vehicles, they are susceptible to theft.

Owners are advised to have their vehicles fixed at a local dealership.

Each vehicle will require its own update.

Kia owners can call 800-333-4542, while Hyundai owners can reach out to 800-633-5151 for assistance. Additionally, all drivers are reminded to ensure their doors are locked at all times and to refrain from leaving keys or valuables inside their vehicles.
