A Long Island Rail Road train struck a vehicle Monday night east of the Pinelawn station – leaving a fiery wreck but no fatalities, according to the MTA.
The MTA police says the Ronkonkoma-bound train was traveling east “when it struck a vehicle at the Little East Neck Road Crossing.”
Police say three passengers on the train reported injuries. EMS treated one passenger at the scene and took the two others to Good Samaritan University Hospital.
There were no injuries to the train crew or occupants of the vehicle.
The circumstances that led to the vehicle to be on the tracks were not immediately clear.
There were about 40 people on the train at the time of the crash. The MTA police say they were detrained and provided with bus service.
Service was still suspended east of Farmingdale as of 10:15 p.m. along the Ronkonkoma line. Customers are urged to use the TrainTime app or MTA.info for updated schedules.
