An estimated 12 people were displaced after a Tuesday afternoon fire in Sleepy Hollow.
Officials say the fire broke out at around 2:30 p.m. at a residence on Cedar Street.
"It was heavy fire and heavy smoke on the third floor," said Sleepy Hollow Fire Assistant Chief John Korzelius Department.
A total of six fire departments responded to tackle the flames.
"For the new year, it's just a horror. We don't like to see things like this, it's not a way to start the new year," Korzelius said.
All of the residents were able to escape the flames unscathed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
