A major community effort is underway in Brewster as the Cultural Arts Coalition launches a $5 million fundraising campaign to restore the town’s historic Old Town Hall.
The building, which has stood for over a century but has suffered years of neglect, has left it in need of significant repairs.
The coalition’s goal is to breathe new life into the structure, transforming it into a vibrant cultural center that will serve as a hub for the arts, education and community events. Plans for the restored space include art exhibitions, live performances, workshops and public gatherings—all designed to enrich the cultural fabric of Brewster and surrounding areas.
Olenna Truskett, president of the Arts Coalition, wants the community to get involved.
"The ultimate goal is to operate a cultural arts center here, one that is affordable for the citizens to enjoy and for the local artists to take part in, but also to have self-sustainable operations," says Truskett.
The
fundraising campaign seeks to raise enough money to cover essential structural repairs, modern accessibility upgrades and the careful preservation of the building’s historic features.
