Putnam County deputy sheriff has harassment charges dropped in domestic incident case

A New Rochelle woman is now facing upgraded charges in the murder of her roommate.

Authorities say Kenya Tilford suffocated her roommate and hid her body in a closet for a week last September.

Tilford was originally charged with murder but now faces additional abuse charges.

Court documents show an 18-count indictment that include felony charges of kidnapping, sexual abuse, and torture.

She pleaded not guilty earlier this week.
