Nighttime construction is keeping some Chappaqua residents up at night, they say.

The town of New Castle's multimillion-dollar project includes installing new curbing and street lamps and replacing Chappaqua's aging water and sewer pipes. Con Edison says it's working on gas lines as well.

Some of the loudest work, like jackhammering, is occurring at night because it would cause Greeley Avenue, Chappaqua's main thoroughfare, to shut down if done during the day.

Deputy Town Supervisor Adam Brodsky says he sympathizes with those being kept awake by the noise, but he explains crews are already working in three shifts to get the work done as quickly as possible.

News 12 is told that officials will host a public meeting next Wednesday night at Chappaqua Town Hall to discuss the project and get feedback from residents.
