Neighbors 'on edge' in Greenwood Lake as nearby wildfire continues to burn

Things are still dire at the New York/New Jersey border where a massive wildfire has been burning for days. Governor Kathy Hochul visited one of the impacted areas around Greenwood Lake Tuesday.
"I had no idea it was going to be that bad but it's bad," says Greenwood Lake resident Barbara Lambert.
Lambert has lived in Greenwood Lakes for years. What has been going on around her home the last couple of days, has led to several sleepless nights.
"It has been terrible, it has been really terrible," Lambert explains.
She's talking about the wildfire that has already burned through 5,000 acres along the New York/New Jersey border.
About 2,700 of those acres are in New York.
"I cannot imagine the level of stress that the residents of this great area of our state are going through right now," says Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Gov. Hochul says emergency crews from all over are working around the clock to get the flames fully tamed.

Emergency officials say they are making some progress.
Neighbors in Greenwood Lake are feeling a little relief with some of the smoke subsiding.
However, it's the unknown that has them on edge.
"My children live here, by grandchildren live here so it's just frightening," says Greenwood Lake resident Gail Ryan.
Emergency crews are hoping conditions get better with the gusty winds backing down a little. There are hundreds of them that are rotating shifts to tackle the fire.
