Westchester County officials gathered at the future site of new affordable housing, located at 632-636 South Broadway in Yonkers on Thursday.

The building will be 16 stories high with 160 affordable housing units.

The property will feature 146 parking spaces, a recreation center, gym and more.

It was made possible, in part, by a $5.9 million contribution by the county for the land's acquisition and more than $4 million in infrastructure funding.

County Executive Ken Jenkins made the plans official on Thursday, signing off on legislation for the building's construction.

"These units are going to serve households earning between 50 and 80% of the area median income providing relief for working families who are increasingly being priced out of Westchester County," said County Executive Jenkins.

Executive Vice President Joseph Apicella, with MacQuesten Development, is a Yonkers native.

He says it's an extraordinary opportunity to give back to the community where he was born and raised.

"The layouts of the apartments, both two and three bedrooms, are encouraging families to relocate and re-establish in an area that heretofore we haven't seen new construction of residences in over 30 years in this area," said Apicella.

Apicella hopes to begin construction in the second quarter of 2026.

He says the project is expected to take around 36 months to complete.
