New City marks Rosh Hashanah with outdoor celebration

The Camelot community in New City marked Rosh Hashana with an outdoor celebration on Sunday.
It was the 28th year which the community held festivities outdoors. The faithful observed the Jewish new year, which opens up the Jewish High Holy Days and is followed by Yom Kippur.
The gathering that happened just before the end of Rosh Hashana at sunset brought the faithful to Camelot Lake for the symbolic throwing of bread into the water.
Participants asked for forgiveness of their sins and blessings for the coming year.
The shofar, or ram's horn, was blown to remind the faithful to examine their deeds and how to improve them and also as a reminder of God's unity.
