A New Jersey woman accused in a Ramapo road rage incident on Thursday is facing numerous charges, according to police.

Officers responded to an intersection in Montebello after receiving a report about an incident possibly involving a handgun around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that the driver had fled the scene.

Investigators determined that the road rage event began by the northbound Exit 14B off-ramp on the New York State Thruway and concluded with both drivers traveling to Hemion Road and Lackawanna Trial.

A description of the suspect and vehicle were broadcast to officers, who found the driver traveling eastbound on Route 59 a short time later.

Police say they arrested the 32-year-old woman at the scene. They also recovered an imitation pistol believed to be the one used during the encounter.

Officers also concluded that her 9-year-old daughter had been inside the vehicle during the incident.

The charges against the unnamed woman include menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, child endangerment and harassment.

Authorities say she is being held at the Ramapo Police Department pending arraignment.
