Spice City FC is a major arena Soccer League 2 organization based out of the 3,000-seat Danbury Ice Arena.
The team held a press conference Thursday with local officials and fans.
Organizers say the arena will be transformed from ice to turf overnight.
Spice City FC says they hope to create an atmosphere that's one of the best in minor league sports.
"What better place than Danbury? Bringing a global game to a city with diverse set of individuals and cultures. Our mantra: "You Belong Here," is a call to excite people to get in the building, to witness high energy goals, and a fast-paced brand of soccer we can all rally around," said President of Operations Kyle Lyddy.
The team says it will play seven home games in 2024, with plans to expand in the future.
