The search is on for millions of Purple Heart recipients as the state builds a permanent memorial in New Windsor.
The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor at the New Windsor Cantonment State Historic Site in Vails Gate is scheduled to open in November. The museum will hold a collaboration of Purple Heart recipient stories from across the nation, displayed through a computerized interactive "Roll of Honor." Video interviews with recipients will also be available.
State officials say 6,000 names have already been submitted, but add there are still millions of recipient names and untold personal stories.
