New Year's resolution - Get fit and stay COVID safe
This is the time of year when many of us resolve to hit the gym and get in shape, but there may be some concerns with how to say safe while working out due to the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
Club 24, the largest locally owned gym in the state, says it is still busy despite the recent outbreak of the Omicron variant.
The gym says it has had no COVID cases at its seven locations and says members are wearing masks and are socially distant.
Club 24 employees are constantly cleaning and asking members to do the same.
A cardiologist at St. Vincent's Medical Center says exercise is still one of the most important ways to stay healthy.
Working out 30 minutes a day, five times a week reduces the risk of heart attacks and strokes by 50%, the doctor said.
Doctors warn people to take extra precautions in the pandemic when working out.
Experts say asking a doctor to be sure is your best defense and stay home if you're sick.
