It's the final week in the career of New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter.
The Yankees are playing their last Bronx series of the 2014 season.
After early September struggles, Jeter brought a seven-game hit streak into Wednesday's matinee game against the Baltimore Orioles. Fans in attendance brought out their cameras for every at-bat, though the Yankees still lost 9-5.
Thursday's weather forecast could affect Jeter's final home game, as rain is expected to hit the stadium during the day. A tarp is already over the field to combat the storm that is likely to hit before the 7:05 p.m. game Thursday.
If Thursday's game is rained out, there is no available date to make the game up. That would make Wednesday's matinee game Jeter's last home game.
The call of whether the game will be played or not is in the hands of Major League Baseball, not the Yankees. The MLB says it will try as hard as it can to keep the game in the lineup, even if it means starting the game a little bit late.
