The city of Newburgh is offering some options for residents to cool off amid a scorching heat wave.
As the mercury soars into the 90s, residents are looking for any means to cool off. The city has a few hydrants open for those looking to beat the unbearable heat. Pools in Newburgh were also filling with people looking for relief.
Others took advantage of cooling centers. Karina Abney, of the City of Newburgh Parks and Recreation Department, says the cooling centers are a great way for residents to get out of the heat. Natalie Quick came to a center and got a chance to play cards in the air-conditioned facility.
