The last remaining 'yellow zone' restrictions are set to be lifted next week, affecting two locations in Orange County.
Newburgh and New Windsor have been in the yellow zone for months, and now both towns will be taken off the state's COVID-19 radar on Monday.
There was mixed reaction from Newburgh residents Thursday after the announcement.
"I don't want them to be lifted too quickly," said one resident. "I think they should be lifted slowly. A little portion at a time."
Towana Raymond, of Newburgh, said she was happy about the restrictions being lifted because she hasn't been able to go out with her grandchild.
Restrictions will be lifted next week to match the rest of the state when it comes to gatherings, restaurants and houses of worship - as positivity rates continue to plummet and vaccinations continue.
Coronavirus testing in Newburgh and New Windsor schools will no longer be required.
The three other yellow zones are in the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens.
Restrictions will be lifted as of Monday there.
