Orange County volunteers planted 300 native trees and shrubs this weekend as part of the World Mission Society's Forest of Hope campaign.
Officials said the effort aims to raise awareness about the role of forests in fighting climate-related disasters.
The trees were planted at Stewart State Forest to help stop the spread of invasive species and convert an abandoned cornfield into forest land.
