New Jersey Transit fares for trains and buses increased by 3% on Tuesday.
This comes after last year's 15% price increase.
NJ Transit announced the annual increases last year after public hearings. President and CEO Kris Kolluri says it’s necessary to fund improvements without cutting service.
This is the first year this 3% fare increase has been implemented.
NJ Transit has said a fare hike would be no more than 3% each year, but hasn't said when this increase would stop.
