Police say two men from New Rochelle were shot and killed following an argument late Saturday night in Bedford Park.
They say the incident happened just before 11 p.m. on East 198th, between Webster and Decatur. People who witnessed the aftermath say the fight escalated after a family witnessed one of their own shot.
According to police, an argument between 24-year-old Arnold Oliver and 28-year-old Jamal Smith inside 397 East 198th was taking place before they took things out on to the sidewalk. Oliver allegedly took out a gun and shot Smith in the face.
One of Smith's relative, 28-year-old Wayne Smith, managed to grab the same gun and allegedly shot Oliver in the torso, police say. Wayne Smith is now under arrest.
Both Jamal Smith and Arnold Oliver were pronounced dead at the hospital.
Wayne Smith faces multiple charges including murder and criminal possession of a gun.
