NYSEG customers in Northern Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties will experience an additional charge of $10 starting next month, as approved by the New York State Public Service Commission.
This increase is expected to raise an average customer's monthly bill by around 30% over the next three years.
"New York state continues to grapple with an affordability crisis and let’s make no mistake, the energy policy and the energy prices that we're seeing they're going to fuel that affordability crisis they're going to fuel the impacts of the record inflation we're seeing on our seniors that we're seeing on our families," says Assemblyman Matt Slater (R-94).
