Two Westchester County public safety officers are being hailed for their heroic efforts that saved a man's life on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Chappaqua.

The incident occurred on Dec. 1, where a driver fled from an attempted traffic stop, subsequently losing control, crashing, and rolling the car onto its side.

Officers Timothy Duffy and Michael Nearing swiftly arrived at the scene, discovering the driver trapped in the backseat of the burning vehicle.

Acting without hesitation, the officers utilized a fire extinguisher to contain the flames and then broke the damaged windshield to extract the injured man from the wreck.

The unconscious suspect was transported to Westchester Medical Center with severe injuries.

He is currently facing multiple charges and summonses.
