The Department of Consumer Affairs gas team says it found more than 200 broken gas pumps across the city and several stations selling watered down gasoline.
Inspectors say 98 percent of the city's gas stations comply with rules, but consumer complaints have risen more than 40 percent this year. DCA inspectors reported the Sunoco station on Castle Hill Avenue had a creeping meter that would continue to charge customers after they stopped pumping.
DCA officials say all gas stations are checked at least twice a year. To file a complaint, call 311.
