Authorities say firefighters on a ladder rescued a mother and her two young children from a condo fire in Nanuet this afternoon. Fire officials say the flames broke out inside a first-floor unit at the Omni Parc Condos on Pipetown Hill Road just before 4 p.m. Surrounding apartments were quickly evacuated, officials say. The mother and her children lived above the unit where the fire started, officials say. The three were treated for smoke inhalation and are expected to be OK, according to emergency responders.
Authorities say the flames appear to have started on or near a couch. They say the cause of the fire remains under investigation, although it does not appear suspicious.
