Years of flooding frustration in Elmsford may be over.

Crews removed an abandoned bridge over the Saw Mill River that officials say had been blocking water flow and causing flooding near Babbitt Court.

According to the mayor, removing the bridge will help the river move more freely.

Officials say it is the first step in a larger effort to reduce flooding in North Elmsford.
