The Village of Florida is gathering to support one of the families affected by a house fire in Goshen earlier this month.
The Rivera family, a mother and two kids, were able to make it out after the fire at the home on Pulaski Highway.
But the Munn family, a father and his two sons, died.
"Hearing about this tragedy and being a mom and just a local community member really shook me to my core," says Daniella Caputo, a Florida resident. "I live about three-quarters of a mile away. It's a house that I pass every day, and it's just devastating to pass it now and see the flowers and the caution tape."
On Thursday, the community and officials hosted a Touch-a-Truck fundraiser at the Florida Fire Department for the Rivera family. The fundraiser gathered clothing, shoe and giftcard donations.
"This fundraiser is a great example of something good that's coming out of a tragedy," says Vini Tankasali, deputy commissioner of the Orange County Department of Emergency Services. "They appreciate to know that the community is there for them."
