It was like a scene from the 'Godfather' when an Orange County councilwoman discovered a severed horse head floating in the bottom of her swimming pool.
Councilwoman Gail Soro was about to go for a dip in her pool at her Wawayanda home when she made the disturbing discovery. Soro called police and now an investigation is underway. She believes what happened is some sort of twisted political message.
Soro, who has been in office for more than two years, says she is a little fearful but admits that she has been the target of other bizarre instances. She says a sexually explicit tape was left on her windshield once and she has had other items posted to her car as well as scrawled on her street.
Investigators are interviewing veterinarians and stable owners in an effort to identify the horse. They are using forensics to find out if the horse was recently euthanized and where it came from. There is a state mandatory process when animals die and police are certain someone knows where the horse?s head came from.
The councilwoman says she plans to press charges once police make an arrest. Anyone with any information regarding the incident or the possible identification of the horse is asked to contact the state police at 845-344-5300.
