Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus released his 2015 budget proposal Wednesday, which he hopes will close the county's large budget gap.
The county has a $60 million budget deficit. Part of Neuhaus' plan to close the deficit is to sell Valley View Hospital, which is owned by the county. A union that represents the hospital workers is against privatizing the hospital.
Neuhaus says two of the bidders for the hospital have promised to keep the hospitals staffed by union members.
The other options to close the budget gap include a 20 percent tax hike and laying off 400 county workers. All the proposals will now head to the county legislature.
