A lifelong Orange County resident will soon take the bench as the City of Middletown‘s newest court justice.

Theresa Cayton’s appointment was announced Tuesday during a news conference at Middletown City Hall. Cayton is replacing the Hon. Richard Guertin, who was recently elected to Orange County Court.

Cayton is a partner at Larkin and Ingrassia Law Firm. She is a Suny Orange graduate, and previously served as an assistant district attorney for the Orange County District Attorney‘s Office.

“It is my intention to serve the City of Middletown, and to treat every person and litigant with dignity and respect, to ensure that all of those who appear here before me are afforded a full and fair opportunity to be heard,” said Cayton.

Cayton’s appointment begins Jan. 1.
