Residents in Orange County, especially those working outdoors, tried to cope with temperatures nearing 100 degrees today. The oppressive heat makes being in the sun a risky proposition, but some need to do so to make a living. In Warwick, workers at a carwash and a construction site dealt with the heavy air and sweltering temperatures. "I can't breathe," said construction worker Steve Delaney. "You got to keep drinking constantly and it's not good." Cooling centers were set up inside town halls, senior homes and community centers across the region.
