Governor George Pataki is not letting his stint in the hospital stop him from running the state Thursday.

Pataki is recovering from surgery to clear a blockage from his digestive tract at New York Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center in Manhattan. Doctors removed adhesions in the 60-year-old governor?s intestines that formed as a result of the appendectomy he had at Hudson Valley Hospital Center last week. Doctors say complications like that are rare and occur in less than 5 percent of patients.

Pataki met with NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Thursday in his hospital room to discuss school funding and port security issues. The governor also worked on his laptop computer and answered e-mails.

A spokesman for Pataki says doctors will continue evaluating the governor on a day-to-day basis. No word on when Pataki will be released.
