Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) met with the family of a slain Pace University student, attorneys and activists Wednesday to hear their request for a special prosecutor to take over the case.
Attorney Bonita Zellman is representing several teammates of Pace student Danroy Henry, who was fatally shot by police outside of a Thornwood bar in October, and says that a special prosecutor needs to be appointed to reach any kind of fair verdict.
Zellman believes that the police agencies involved in the shooting, along with the Westchester County district attorney, will attempt to cover up the case.
While the governor can't actually appoint a special prosecutor, the state attorney general does have that power. The group says that after the meeting today they are hopeful Paterson will help make that happen.
