A pedestrian was fatally struck by a freight train Thursday in Newburgh, according to authorities.
A CSX spokesman says it happened around 1 p.m. on the tracks near Oak Street and River Road.
Responding officers found an unresponsive 45-year-old woman from the Town of Newburgh beneath one of the cars.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the crew members were injured.
