A hearing was held on Monday for Peekskill residents to voice their opinions on a possible ban to smoking within 100 feet of an outdoor dining space within the business improvement district.

If it's passed, violators can face fines up to $50 for the first offense, $100 for the second and $250 for every violation after that.

Some residents tell News 12 they fear the ban would have negative impacts on tourism.

If approved, this would be an additional amendment to the current law banning outdoor smoking in city parks.
