A Piermont police detective’s quick-thinking actions are being credited with recently saving a young man trying to take his own life.
The Piermont Police Department says Det. Peter Boutrose saw the individual in distress while on patrol Wednesday and immediately intervened.
“Over his career in law enforcement Det. Boutrose has saved many lives, both here in the village and in his role as a patrol officer in the City of Beacon. A few years ago, a child had fallen on the tracks at a rail station. Without hesitation, Boutrose jumped on to the tracks saving the young man, just prior to the train entering the station,” the department said in a Facebook post.
The department says the Village of Piermont is lucky to have “such a fine young officer.
