? A Democratic candidate for state attorney general is calling for former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jeanine Pirro to give back campaign donations.
Charlie King says since Pirro switched from the U.S. Senate race to the attorney general race, all of the funds she raised for the first race should go back to contributors. A GOP political consultant says legally, Pirro can use those funds in her new race, but she may still give back the money.
A spokesperson for Pirro says the former Westchester DA does not plan to use Senate money in her new political campaign. The spokesperson also added the campaign will only give back funds if contributors ask.
Records show Pirro raised less than $500,000. Candidates for New York?s top races must file campaign finance reports this week.
