A male construction worker was seriously injured Monday while excavating around a home in Chappaqua, police say.
The Mount Pleasant Police Department says it happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Hardscrabble Road.
According to the Chappaqua Fire Department, the construction worker fell into the foundation around the home while doing excavating work.
First responders had to use a rope system to get him out. Specialized units from multiple different departments were called in to help.
The man was rushed to hospital. His age and identity have not been released.
Neighbors say they were shocked to see so many first responders on the street Monday.
"I was really worried at the time. I called my mom, and texted my dad and let them know what was happening outside the house," says Jacob, who lives across the street from where the incident happened.
They tell News 12 they had no idea what happened, but they hope the man makes a full recovery. “I hope he's OK, it's the holidays," says Chappaqua resident Wendy Craft.
