A Peekskill man with Parkinson's Disease is back home after local police officers found him.
The Peekskill Police Department says a 911 call came in about the missing 75-year-old from his son's home.
After 45 minutes, Officer Jon Saintiche, and his K-9, Bones, found the missing man who was cold-to-the-touch and he couldn't move but was still alive and conscious on a pile of leaves.
"Bones has not found somebody like this before, no," Saintiche told News 12.
The son of the man said his father had possible early stages of dementia. He told police that his father had last been seen hours earlier and was only wearing slippers, jeans, and a sweatshirt, which left him vulnerable to the freezing temperatures that hovered around 5 degrees Fahrenheit.
"Those things are great -- evidence recovery -- but there's not greater feeling than the actual recovery of somebody that actually needed your assistance in a timely fashion," added Saintiche.
The man was alive and conscious, and brought to hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
