A couple faced charges Monday in a domestic dispute that police say involved physical violence and one of them holding on to a car roof for dear life.
Police believe the dispute started Saturday night at the Quaker Road Trailer Park. According to authorities, William Kremer, 42, jumped on the roof of 37-year-old Stacy Sperrazza's Hyundai as she took off down Route 202 in Haverstraw.
"The guy was clinging on the roof reaching in and punching her inside the car ? and I don't know if she was just trying to get away or trying to run him over," says police Lt. John Campbell.
Sperrazza allegedly smashed into a car at the Palisades Parkway entrance and rear-ended another car at Thiells Mount Ivy Road. The Hyundai's air bag deployed and the windshield wipers broke off.
Police say Sperrazza pulled into a gas station, where Kremer jumped off, but witnesses told police she tried to run over him. The pair fled in different directions, but police say Kremer turned himself in while Sperrazza was found on Rosman Road.
Kremer was released from jail after posting $5,000 bail. Sperrazza remains in jail on $50,000 bail. Both face a long list of charges, including assault and reckless endangerment.
