Polls open across Hudson Valley with key mayor and council races underway

Polls opened at 6 a.m. and will close at 9 p.m. News 12 will have special coverage at 9 p.m.

Voters across the Hudson Valley are heading to the polls Tuesday for a hotly contested primary day.
Here are some of the races we are watching closely today:
  • City Council President Lakisha Collins-Bellamy is facing four challengers in the Democratic primary in Yonkers, while two Republicans are competing in their party's race.
  • In White Plains, Councilman Justin Brasch and former Councilwoman Nadine Hunt Robinson are seeking the Democratic nomination for mayor. Current Mayor Thomas Roach is running for county clerk.
  • In Harrison, Supervisor Richard Dionisio is being challenged on the Democratic, Republican, and Conservative lines.
  • In Spring Valley, five Democrats and two Republicans are competing to replace outgoing Mayor Alan Simon.
  • In Middletown, Mayor Joseph DeStefano is running against County Legislator Joel Sierra in the Democratic primary.
