A flag-raising ceremony was held Thursday at Port Chester High School to celebrate Pride Month.

Members of the GSA Club raised the Progressive Pride flag during the ceremony to show their support.

The district's superintendendant and teachers also came out in support.

"I think the Pride flag, and the Progressive Pride flag even moreso, acknowleges different people for different reasons. But what it says to everybody who sees it is 'all are welcome here,'" said teacher Barry Backelman.

Pride Month officially kicks off this Saturday June 1.
