A Poughkeepsie man was convicted Wednesday of kidnapping and attempting to rob a pregnant woman and her two young children, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office.
Derrick Woodhouse, 50, approached the woman and her children while they were in her car, holding a knife to her stomach, prosecutors said. He threatened to hurt the children unless she drove to an ATM and withdrew money.
After she withdrew the cash, Woodhouse demanded the money but fled after she accidentally dropped it, according to the DA's office.
Woodhouse faces a sentence of up to 25 years to life in prison.
