Poughkeepsie schools will be receiving new funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
Officials say they have secured a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education aimed at bolstering the district's "Community Schools Initiative" across five elementary schools.
The grant will facilitate the district's collaboration with local nonprofits, health providers, and various agencies to organize and provide services aimed at enhancing student learning and fostering healthy development through the community schools program.
