A beloved community member and local legend is being remembered after her death in Putnam County.

Florence Clifton, affectionately known as "Putnam Valley's grandma," died age of 107, according to county and town officials.

Local leaders say she was believed to be the oldest living person in the Putnam Valley community.

In 2023, town officials honored her by declaring March 20 as Florence Clifton Day.

Officials say Clifton was widely cherished in Putnam Valley and beyond, known for her warmth and deep ties to the community.
