A Queens man has been charged with taking $52,000 in cash and payroll checks from a vehicle in Yorktown last month.

Police say the theft occurred last month when a business owner on Saw Mill River Road reported the money was taken from his car.

Last Thursday, police in an Albany suburb stopped a car being sought by Yorktown police.

One of the occupants was identified as the suspect from the alleged larceny.

Oscar Javier Barrera Pena, 46, was charged with grand larceny and is being held in the Westchester County Jail.
