Some quick-thinking officers saved a woman in distress in Spring Valley.
The woman had considered suicide last month - and that's when four Spring Valley police officers sprang into action to help.
"I felt if we didn't do it then we never get the option again and it will turn out for the worst," says John Dziedzic, of the Spring Valley police.
In a video given to News 12, Dziedzic can be seen climbing over the overpass railing back onto Route 59.
He went out on the ledge with only his fellow Spring Valley officers holding on to him in order to save her.
"We had a conversation with her as we were hanging out on the side of the bridge, and I told her basically that I had two kids at home and I want to make it home to them tonight," says Dziedzic.
Ultimately, the woman did not want to hurt him and was guided back to safety by the group.
The incident lasted about five minutes.
News 12 spoke with all four of Spring Valley's Finest.
"In a situation like that, we didn't have an hour to come up with a game plan. We were all there. We all did what needed to be done and we all pitched in as a team," says Sean Jordan, of the Spring Valley police.
"I must say this was one of the most exciting jobs I ever went to because it had a positive outcome. Preventing someone from committing suicide. So it was a good feeling," says Eli Ungar, of the Spring Valley police.
"It does mean a lot to me that I was able to help my other officers and this young lady," says Quacy Evelyn, of the Spring Valley police.
