Report: More than 30 Hudson Valley high schools ranked as best in the nation

More than 30 schools in the Hudson Valley are recognized as the best in the nation according to the latest annual rankings by US News & World Report. Bronxville High School is ranked the highest in the region. It is ranked 13th in New York and 145th in the country.
Top 30 schools also include: Edgemont Junior-Senior High School (#14 in NY, #146 Nationally), Byram Hills High School (#18 in NY, #167 Nationally), Rye High School (#19 in NY, #169 Nationally), Horace Greeley High School (#23 in NY, #195 Nationally), Blind Brook High School (#25 in NY, #217 Nationally), and Hastings High School (#29 in NY, #258 Nationally).
The rankings are based on six particular factors including:
  • College readiness — which holds the most weight in ranking
  • College curriculum breadth
  • Reading and math proficiency and performance
  • Underserved student performance
  • Graduation rates.
The report gives insight into how underserved groups are doing academically and how well these schools support these students.
U.S. News says their core principle is that top schools need to serve ALL students well, not just those planning to go to college, and the schools need to produce academic outcomes that support this.
The COVID-19 pandemic did not affect these results since U.S. News used data from the 2018-2019 school year for this edition
