The study shows it costs an average of $2,306 to have a dog in New York, which trails Delaware and Massachusetts, according to Emotional Support Animal provider Pettable.
In New York state, annual food costs are around $807 with pet insurance coming in at $732, and vet visits with vaccines and spaying or neutering averaging around $764.
In Delaware, the average costs is around $2,864, while the cheapest state is Idaho at $1,232.
