A very powerful New York Republican is urging District Attorney Jeanine Pirro to drop out of the U.S. Senate race against Democrat Hillary Clinton.
The leader of the state Senate, Joe Bruno, says Pirro should run instead for attorney general. Mike Edelmen, a GOP analyst and close friend to Pirro, thinks Pirro should have run for the attorney general spot from the start. Earlier polls showed that?s where she had the best chance at victory. Recent polls now show Pirro trailing behind her opponent in the bank and in her campaign, despite a recent reshuffling of staffers and a public endorsement from the governor.
In a statement to News 12 Pirro said she appreciates Bruno?s confidence in her abilities, however she will continue to remain a candidate for the U.S. Senate.
